The new iPhone is out! 5s or 5c––Siri or Color! You get to pick starting this weekend and next.
Let me start by saying that me and my family are iPhone owners. We love them! There are so many things that you can do with these incredible devices. From our phones, we can text, email, surf the web, listen to music, play Words with Friends (& a million other games), watch TV or movies, and a myriad of other things that are yet to be truly discovered. Oh yes, you can make calls on these phones as well! What a novel concept!
There are 2 sides to the man named Dan Lewiston:
There is side “4s” that is perfectly content with his 2-year-old iPhone. It works great. It’s perfectly broken in and, thanks to a great case, has no scratches or dings ANYWHERE! I really don’t need a new phone. Mine is fine!
Then there is side “5s.” Now that side wants more space, a bigger screen, the cool feature to set my thumb on the button and have the phone unlock; not to mention a host of other things that I don’t even know about the new phone.
Ah, the American dream has become the American conundrum! I don’t really need it, but boy it would be nice to have. I want bigger and better.
Hebrews 13:5 (NLT) “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
While this is not how other preachers rage on about money, this IS a calm reminder that we don’t always need everything that advertisers tell us we need. So many times, we look at what others have and compare our lack to their abundance. All the while the scriptures are asking us to be satisfied with what we have––God. He will never fail us or leave us!
Let me leave you with a thought…
James 1:17 (NLT) says, “17 Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.[a] He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”
On Sept. 18, Apple is releasing iOS7. Hey! This gives the existing iPhone a full makeover––FOR FREE! There is no debate . . . I will have the new iOS7. A good and perfect gift for those who would love to have a 5s, but don’t need it right now!
Geez, I hope my 4s doesn’t “accidentally” slip into a body of water . . . Just kidding!
