Here and Now?

GiftIn Genesis 31:42, “…if the God of my Father had not been on my side – the God of Abraham and the fearsome God of Isaac – you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God…” Can anybody say “But God…?” Take some time this morning to think of the “But God Moments” in your world this morning! I am so thankful for God and how God does His God things!”

My daughter’s birthday was this week. She turned 6! Birthdays are always fun with kids. They know that it is their day and it’s all about them. This year Jen is taking Bella to Disney on the Ice. As much as it pains me to miss this experience, it will be a girl trip. We gathered around on her birthday to open a few gifts of clothing and small gifts from an 11-year-old’s limited budget. You could see it in her eyes––she was longing for a “big gift.” “I wish I had a few more gifts.” Quickly we reminded her of the upcoming trip into Boston for the big show. I could tell she felt empty handed. She didn’t really comprehend what was coming. She’s 6, and still learning!

Now you and I know for a little girl that loves princesses, dancing, and skating; she will be blown away in February when she gets to see Disney on Ice. But the here and now is the thing that she struggles with––Just like you and me sometimes. We don’t like the here and now, and really struggle waiting to see the “But God moments!”

The gifts may be small and seemingly inconsequential, but know that Daddy has something more for us. As a matter of fact, He has something that Eph. 3:20 & 21 says like this, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”

Keep looking for “the tickets,” they are coming! And what a show it will be––so much better than we hoped for or imagined!
