I have known “3 Greats in Dads” throughout my life! What I do not mean is 4 generations of men that were dads before me, hence the term Great, Great, Great Grandpa. But what I do mean is 3 Encouragements that some pretty great dads have given either in my life or that I have observed and thus impacted me from afar.
- Encouragement to be Christ Like! Solomon told his kids and the world through the book of Proverbs 3:5&6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” What a GREAT word! Be like Christ, because in trusting in Him, He will be there for you and will take care of all the things in your life. He will guide you and ensure that you know exactly where to go at every turn. Great Dads encourage their family to be like Christ!
- Encouragement to be a better you! Jethro, Moses Father-in-law challenged Moses in Ex. 19:15 & 17, “What are you really accomplishing here? This not good, you are going to wear yourself out…” What a GREAT word of Wisdom! Jethro loved Moses so much that he was pleading with Moses to take better care of himself, which in return, caused Moses to take care of those around him. As Moses did as his Father-in-law instructed him, He found peace and strength in who God made him to be and how God made him to lead. Great Dads teach their family how to be healthy!
- Encouragement that you will never be alone! Joshua was the recipient of this great promise of peace and strength. Joshua 1:9, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you where you go!” What a GREAT promise for us to always to know! God, our heavenly Father, told Joshua and us that we would never be alone. Think back to the time in the mall, in the crowd, or at night in the dark in your room when all of a sudden you were alone and afraid. All you were looking for was dad’s hand and hug of love, peace, and protection. And there is our GREAT HEAVENLY FATHER, always there, and He will never leave us alone!
Great Dads love and protect, provide and teach, walk with us and push us onward! I am so glad that God the Father is there to help me on my journey in loving and leading my kids! Thank you God for giving me a Dad to encourage me to be Christ like, to be better at being me, and to show me that God will never leave me alone!
Happy Father’s Day! I Love You Dad!
Great insight. Love you!
