Have you ever wondered what Mary did with the gifts her family received in the first Christmas story found in Matthew 2? …Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
Have you ever wondered if the little shepherd boy really did play his drum… ba rum pa pum pum?
Have you ever wondered what the angels sounded like as they graced the shepherds on that lonely hillside in Bethlehem?
All of these questions seem trivial, and hard to really comprehend since we were not eye witnesses to the actual birth of Christ. Scriptures can’t even give us clues as to the actual answers to all of these questions.
Then there is this question… Have you ever thought of every gift that you have ever received at Christmastime?
There is no way to even come close to counting every gift that we have ever received. Most times, we forget about the gift less than 3 months after Christmas!
Yet, there is a gift that we should never forget about!
Eph. 2:8&9, “8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God! 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done…”
Will you join me this Christmas Season and stop to reflect on the greatest Christmas gift ever given – God’s own son, Jesus!
He is not just a reward for things we do. He is not just a teacher that teaches good and wholesome lessons. He is not just a figure of divinity found in cards, Christmas carols, and nativity scenes on the mantle.
Jesus is a gift from our eternal Father that loves us and gave his life. He didn’t just give us the precious gifts that were given to His family. He didn’t just give us a new song in our hearts. Jesus, gave us His life! He gave us forgiveness! He gave us love! He gave us a life of purpose!
He gave us Himself! Truly the “Best Christmas Gift Ever!”
