This morning a student from a past ministry assignment posted this statement on her Facebook wall, “God is the reason why even in pain – I smile, in confusion – I understand, in betrayal – I trust, and in fear – I continue to fight!” Of course like any person into Social Media, I “Retweeted” and posted it to my Facebook wall!
As I thought about this statement through the morning, how true this is. It is because of God that I am. Because of Him, I “move and have my being”! Through Him I have been called, “I called you into righteousness!” Because of Him, I am never alone, “I will never leave you or forsake you!” WOW, it is all about Him! And not about me! Sometimes that is a tough thing to handle when the entire world around me says, “I, ME, and MINE!”
But here is an interesting thought that the Apostle Paul brings to our attention. Phil. 1:6, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you (& me), will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” He is working on you and I – faithfully! He will not stop until we are reunited with Him on the other side of this life!
Don’t lose hope, that even though we struggle with “I & Me”, He doesn’t struggle with you! He loves You SO Much! Remember, Romans 8:38 & 39 “38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So, let go of “I, Me, & Mine”! Grab onto Him “who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Eph. 3:20
