I have many friends in different places of the US. Most of my friends are saying that they are SO not ready for a season change. I think it’s safe to say that people really love SUMMERTIME!
The thought of winter approaching is not very encouraging this time of year. People are not ready to cash in on the trips to the beach, the down time by the pool, the trips to get ice cream (ok that happens year round in my family!), and the thought of scooping snow all the time––not a fun thought! In as much, it is very apparent that as much as we don’t want the weather to change, about the only thing that we can do is move to Florida or Hawaii. The weather will be the weather until the weather changes! There is absolutely nothing we can do but grin, soak up the rays before the shivering begins, and bear it.
You know, there are many of us that have been in a season of life that we desperately want to change. A season of unemployment, bad health, slow spiritual growth, perhaps waiting for a friend or loved one to make a commitment to follow Christ with their whole hearts. The thoughts of…
- “How long must I wait, Lord?”
- “God, when will this ever end?”
- “Jesus, if you love me as much as you say, how come this is happening to me?”
- “Where is the end to this tunnel, because I sure do not see it?”
I would like to encourage your soul today as you read this. The Word of God tells us…
Isaiah 55:8 – 12, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace.”
When we read vs. 10 and hear in our mind the word S-N-O-W, many think, “not ready for this,” but then seeing the purpose of snow; that makes it more bearable. We don’t always like the length of winter, but we sure understand its place. It is all in God’s sovereign plan! It makes sense.
And, guess what? You may not like the length of your season right now, but take heart––IT’S GONNA CHANGE!
SEASONS ALWAYS CHANGE!
